The frame of “Behind Every Door” reminds me so much of the those very moving Chick Fil A training videos where individuals in the restaurant are fitted with captions that capture situations in their lives. Circumstances that we’d never know about were we not to empathize, inquire, and be curious about who they are beneath surfaces and assumptions. Here’s to reaching out and making the connections that count.

With all due respect 8 years really isn’t a lot of time when one is seeking larger recognition especially for younger artists who are on their way to forging something unique. I certainly have nothing against Mr. Thacker but many times you earn your spot in the music industry simply by refusing to go away. Lots of bands who “made it” put in a solid decade before getting anything close to the recognition that comes with a larger audience. Yes- there are bands and artists who somehow seem to get a break early in their career although the larger share of bands seem to have to pay dues for a much longer period during which they become the artist that they always wanted to be. Speaking in general – go to any city and note how many performers there are in their 20s and how similar they all are – only time, experience, and seasoning differentiates the exceptional ones. Yes there is the “american idol” route but the kind of artist I’m seeking is always going to be someone who has been in it for the long haul and couldn’t be pried away from “the business”. This isn’t to say that those artists who seek an exit from the business aren’t talented just that the ones who don’t go away seem to have something truly unique and impressive to offer.
